This Latin script typeface has been hand crafted by master contemporary artists—Pushpa Kumari and Pradyumna Kumar is based on the great Hindu epic, The Ramayana.
 
It based on the Mithila (or Madhubani) folk art that originates in the northern Bihar district of Madhubani in the eastern part of India. This is also the region where Sita (and her father Janak of Janakpuri) hail from. 
 
It is no surprise that Madhubani (literally a forest of honey!) art has been depicting themes from The Ramayana since its inception.
 
Each letter of this typeface references on "character" from The Ramayana. The typeface includes alternates such as multiples R's for Ram and Ravan; A's for Ahilya, Akshay Kumar, Angad and others. It has also has discretionary ligatures for "RAM" where the letters shape-shift (much like in the actual story, where people shape-shift) and all the three letters change to represent the story from Lord Ram's perspective.
 
Originally hand painted on mud walls, this art form transformed to pen and brush on paper and now for the very first time has become a Latin script typeface (Also see Mythila Devanagari (https://www.typecraftinitiative.org/product-page/mythila-devanagari-display-typeface) from the same region by similar artists)
