Ishan Khosla (Founding Partner)
Ishan Khosla is a Delhi-based visual artist, designer and researcher with an MFA in Design from the School of Visual Arts, New York. While Ishan runs is own studio Ishan Khosla Design, he also started The Typrecraft Initiative in 2012, initially as a self-funded initiative to be able to work with rural craftspeople across India.
He has spoken at Typo Berlin, Kyoorius Design Yatra and several educational institutes such as the Univ. of Edinburgh and UNSW, Sydney. His work has been published in Typographic Universe, Found Type, India Contemporary Design, Tokyo Type Design among others. His exhibitions include, Handcraft for the digital: Type design from India at Atelier Muji Ginza (Tokyo); the Australian Design Centre (Sydney); the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum; The London Design Festival; Serendipity Arts Festival; Nishi Gallery; Hawkesburry Gallery and Devi Art Foundation among others.
Andreu Balius is a type designer based in Barcelona (Spain). He designs retail and custom typefaces at typerepublic.com and has been awarded with several Excellence in Type Design for his type design work. He is a member of AGI (Alliance Graphique Internationale), TDC (Type Directors Club) and ATypI (Association Typographique Internationale).
He holds a PhD in Design from the University of Southampton (UK) and teaches typography and type design at EINA, University School of Design and Art, in Barcelona. Apart from his type affairs, he also loves hiking and riding on his mountain bike.
Sol Matas is a type designer from Buenos Aires. She holds a degree in Graphic Design, a Specialization in Digital Design and a Specialization in Typeface Design from the Universidad de Buenos Aires (Argentina).
She started her career as a graphic designer at the Saatchi & Saatchi agency in Buenos Aires and since 2001 she runs her own studio Sonnenshine specializing in branding and custom type design, working for companies from Latin America, Europe and the United States. She has been focused on developing fonts in Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Oriya and Devanagari. Her type projects were selected for the Bienal Tipos Latinos 2010, Tipos Latinos 2012 and the 5th International Typography Congress in Valencia. She has lectured on type design, and gave workshops in diverse events and schools in Latin America, Europe and Asia. Since 2019 she runs Hungry Type Society. She currently lives and works in Berlin, Germany.
